A young girl explain her life with How Boko Haram killed all her family!
Aishat Abdulsalam

A 26-year-old lady, Aishat Abdulsalam, who alleged that the remaining eight members of her family had been murdered by the Boko Haram sect in Kangarama, Kastina State, is now being rehabilitated by the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Otunba Titi Laoye-Tomori.

The lady, who appeared on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) Television, claimed that her fathertold her before his death that the family hailed from Iwo, Osun State, while her mother was from Oyo town.

Narrating her ordeal, Aishat said: “I thought the end had come when my five brothers, a sister, mother and father lost their lives in an attack by Boko Haram. My family has been living in Kangaram for over 40 years and we never visited Iwo. I don’t know any of my parents’ relations or our family houses at Iwo or Oyo.”

Aishat, who is the second to the last born of the family, explained that her deceased brothers were Wasiu, Isiaq, Lukman, Gafar and Sodiq while her sister was Suliat. Her father and mother’s names were Abdusalam fom Iwo and Aminat (nee Adejimi) from Oyo Alafin
“On the fateful day, my brother, Wasiu, came to Kangarama to inform my parents about his forthcoming graduation from Kwara State Polytechnic and this made our mother to ask me and Sodiq, our last born, to go and buy Tuwo for Wasiu. As we were returning with the food, we heard a loud blast of bomb in the direction of our house and the house immediately caught fire.

“As I was running helter-skelter with Sodiq, a stray bullet hit him on the leg. We were later rescued by a man who put us in a hole in his house because if it was discovered that the man rescued us, they would kill the three of us. In the midnight of that day, we were taken to the garage by the man and he handed us to traders, coming to Ore, Ondo State.

“Sodiq died the second day when we got to Ore but I was deceived that a doctor had taken him to Osogbo for treatment. That was how I got to Osogbo. A good Samaritan took me to OSBC where I told Nigerians of my ordeal and predicament of not knowing my parents’ family.”
It was while she was on air that the deputy governor called the Director General of OSBC to bring her to the State House for safekeeping and general rehabilitation.

Laoye-Tomori expressed desire to adopt her if all efforts to trace her parents’ family eventually yield no result. She promised to sponsor her education to any level.
The deputy governor added that Aishat was already part and parcel of her nuclear family and promised to make her happy at all times and be a very good mother to her.
Aishat urged parents, who are living outside their homeland, to ensure that their children know much about their roots. She prayed for the success of the Osun State Government and for peace in Nigeria.
